Artificial Intelligence Policy

The use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) tools in articles published in TRK Journal must be conducted within an ethical, transparent, and responsible framework. This policy aims to define the limits of the use of GAI-assisted tools for authors, editors, and reviewers.

Our journal adheres to the ethical principles established by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) regarding the use of GAI technologies in academic publication processes. GAI tools cannot be listed as authors in academic or scientific studies and do not have author status. Scientific publications must be based on the researcher's original ideas, methods, and findings.

GAI tools may only be used for language editing, spell checking, or technical improvement purposes in the article preparation process. In this case, the relevant use must be clearly stated in the article.

Use of AI in Visual Content

Due to ongoing legal uncertainties regarding copyright and ethical responsibilities, the use of images generated with GAI is generally not recommended. However, its use is permitted in the following cases:

Images that serve as direct references in research on artificial intelligence.

In this case, the image should include a description as follows:

Example:

Note: The image was created using a generative artificial intelligence system (DALL·E, OpenAI, 2026).

This description should also be detailed in the article before the bibliography section.

Artificial Intelligence Usage Guidelines for Authors

Authors may use generative artificial intelligence tools only for supporting purposes. In this context:

The scientific content, analyses, and results of the article are entirely the responsibility of the authors.

The responsibility for generating original ideas, research design, and hypothesis development rests with the authors.

The interpretation of findings, discussion, and conclusion-drawing processes cannot be left to generative artificial intelligence.

AI systems cannot be credited as authors.

If the use of artificial intelligence is involved, it must be clearly and transparently stated in the article.

The ultimate responsibility for the accuracy and ethical appropriateness of the content generated by artificial intelligence rests with the authors.

Confidential patient data, data requiring ethics committee approval, or copyrighted materials cannot be uploaded to generative AI systems.

AI Usage Guidelines for Editors

Editors may utilize generative AI-assisted tools to a limited extent in the preliminary review process. This use may be for limited purposes such as:

checking language quality,

technical editing,

tools to assist in similarity analysis,

However, editorial decisions are made solely by editors. Article content that is confidential cannot be uploaded to generative AI systems.

AI Usage Guidelines for Reviewers

Reviewers may not upload the content of articles sent to them to any generative AI system during the review process. This constitutes a violation of data confidentiality and publication ethics.

Reviewers may only use AI tools for language editing of their own review reports. The scientific content of the reviewer reports is entirely the responsibility of the reviewer.

Violations and Sanctions

An ethical violation occurs if a disclosure regarding the use of artificial intelligence is not made, if an incomplete or misleading disclosure is made, or if any use prohibited under this policy is detected.

In this case, one or more of the following sanctions may be applied:

Rejection of the article during the evaluation process

Retraction of the published article

Editorial ban imposed on the author

Notification to relevant institutions when necessary

TRK Journal is committed to upholding the principles of ethics, transparency, and scientific responsibility in academic publishing.
